Barefoot Bride

dsc_0038You don’t have to get married on the beach to wear this birdcage veil, but it does seem like a match made in heaven, doesn’t it? The wide-gauge netting is stiff enough to hold up to a strong breeze,  a good choice for an outdoor wedding. The silk flowers are hand-sewn onto the veil, not a separate comb, allowing them to float  further forward on the face.  The birdcage itself is secured by two combs.

Off the beach, this veil is suddenly chic, especially with the hair in a severe bun.

Dewdrops

A little bit sweet, but no shrinking violet…lovely on its own, happy to be paired with a birdcage veil.  Wait, are we talking about the fascinator or the bride who wears it?

This small fascinator features pearly “dewdrops” on the petals of the fabric gardenia and three kinds of feathers.

Sequins and Feathers

When a face is this beautiful, why hide it behind a veil? Last year, we’d have probably suggested a piece like this to go with a wedding suit, perhaps for a bride who’d been down the aisle before.  And it’s still perfect for that. But as the new collections are coming out, these unveiled feather demi-hats are also turning up on the runway with full-blown bridal gowns and they look fabulous together. This one has a sequined flower that brings out the peachy undertone in both the feathers and your blushing cheeks. Not strictly bridal, by any means.

Somewhere in the Middle

She wants it all, and usually finds a way to get it.

In this case, the bride wanted the fresh look of a birdcage, but couldn’t quite let go of her childhoodfantasy of a flowing veil. Voila’! This extra-full double length birdcage bridges the gap perfectly and while performing a balancing act with a fuller dress or a tall bride. Shown here with a pair of ivory peonies featuring a smattering of lacy petals and pearly centers. Veil shown in ivory, also available in white.

Peony Fluff

Pin me up, wouldja? A fascinator like this packs plenty of punch on its own, but pairs well with a birdcage, wedge or mask veil. A corona of the flutteriest feathers surrounds this creamy pearl-centered peony, making it a natural for a breezy outdoor wedding or a bride with a rockabilly bent.

Whole Lotta Flowers

Not a feather in sight (but we’ll add a few if you ask nicely).  One of our more traditional pieces, this bridal comb sports a variety of white flowers from gardenias to more fanciful blossoms with organdy and pearl enhancements. Wear it as is, or pair it with any sort of veil, including traditional tulle.

The Dark Side

She’s a bride with a flair for the unexpected, and what’s more unexpected than…black? We’ve added some sparkle to the center of this generous black flower, which could certainly hold its own as is. What about pairing it with a black birdcage trimmed in crystals? Or a white wedge with black chenille dots? And of course, nothing says it’s just for a bride.

Fluffy, Not Stuffy

feather_veilSo you’re not a child bride. Maybe you’ve been down the aisle a time or two; maybe you are renewing your wedding vows.  This retro feather hat is for the woman who’s sure of herself, grown-up and smashing. It’s secured by a small comb and is shown here with a chic veil that can stop anywhere from forehead to chin. Lovely with short hair,  and not necessarily bridal, especially sans veil.

Nothing Fancy

dsc_00771There is no doubt she’s a bride, but this easy-to-wear headpiece isn’t going to cramp her style. Organdy stephanotis with pearl centers adorn an oversize netting  bow, all hand-stitched to a satin headband. How about a scaled-down version matched to the colors of the attendants’ dresses?

Tradition with a twist. For the ceremony, it’s a blusher, and for the reception it pins up into a more hat-like fascinator. The comb under the handmade flower makes it easy to position so the veil ends just below the eyes, at the tip of the nose or covering the whole face.
