She’s a modern girl who loved to play dress-up with her glamorous grandma’s hats. A true fascinator in every sense of the word, this wee raw silk hat is a nod to the past as the bride looks to her future. The small bow gathers a wedge of ivory netting that has been hand-dotted with bits of chenille that are much finer than those on commercial dotted netting. Very old-school. Creamy feathers waft behind as the bride floats down the aisle.

What happens when our designers spend a Saturday afternoon watching Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, the movie where Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell have a double wedding, wearing identical dresses and little veiled hats? Well…this! A modern take on a retro hat with a wee tulle veil and a voluptuous handmade chiffon rose with a pearly center. The hat itself is covered in pleated ivory satin, very much in keeping with current bridal gown fashion, but equally at home with a vintage look.

Rock me like a hurricane

Here’s a headpiece that tells the story of a love like a hurricane–wild, dangerous, but totally peaceful at its center. It features a satin-covered base with a storm of hand-placed crystals and and extravagant swirl of feathers to catch the breeze. It attaches with an alligator clip, so you can place it just where you want it.

Feathers up, it’s a little more daring. Feathers down, a bit more of a hat. Either way, it pairs beautifully with a birdcage (sold separately).

Whoever that masked woman was, she stole his heart. The small but mighty veil features just enough crystal-studded leaf detail to rev its engine from a purr to va-va-voom vroom. Attached to combs with organdy ribbon, this wisp of large gauge netting may be worn with the embellishment on either side. Lovely paired with the white feather hat, too. A very sweet bride with a teensy little rebellious streak asked us if we could put black dots on white netting. Boy, could we! We balanced those chenille dots with a pouf of black marabou and a retro button on this white feather hat. We’ve seen it paired nicely with non-bridal styles, too, from an LBD to jeans and a white shirt. Attaches with a comb so you can dance the night away.

Fresh and flirty, this baby-blue birdcage is so soft and light, you’ll hardly know it’s there. And adding a bit of color to your ensemble is a trend almost as hot as birdcage veils this year.

Shown here tilted into a wedge, this pale veil satisfies both the Something New and Something Blue requirements. Our bride added a beaded brooch, her own Something Old (and possibly borrowed). Two clear combs keep it secure.
